We chatted with recording artist Tiana Kocher, who has just released her latest summer single and music video ‘Take Over feat. Sage the Gemini’ on all platforms. From music videos set in Miami with J Alvarez to Malibu Beach with Sage the Gemini, Tiana Kocher knows how to make a summer vibe fly!
We love your new single Take Over. Can you tell us a bit about it?
Thank you! It was the first song that I recorded that has a feature, so it has an extra special place in my heart. To work with Sage, who is such an incredible artist and veteran in the industry, was really humbling as well, and also taught me a lot!
How was the making of the music video?
It was a really fun process actually. This was the third music video I shot with director Ali Zamani, so we are very familiar with the way we work together. We wanted to really bring something different to the table and not make it a “typical yacht video.” I also was very fortunate to create the look book and style the music video myself. I was able to get these really dope custom baseball jerseys for the dancers with “Take Over” in the front and their names in the back, I thought it looked super dope altogether.

Can you explain your rehearsal process with the dancers?
Man, we had two 8-hour rehearsals, we were always drained by the end of the day but I’m sure you can from the product how much hard work everyone put into it! Rehearsal is always a highlight of every project in my opinion, it gives you the opportunity to get to know people “behind closed doors” and not in front of a camera. Everyone really brought their A-game to rehearsal and to set, I was really inspired by how hard working everyone was. It pushes me to always do better.
Where would you love to make your next music video?
If you know me, you know how obsessed I am with the 60’s and 70’s. Retrofuturism interiors to be precise. I would love to do a shoot at any of the case study houses, particularly the Stahl house in Los Angeles and Apt 1 in Phoenix, Arizona.
What’s up next for you?
Definitely more music, hopefully a live performance soon!
‘Take Over Feat. Sage the Gemini’ from Tiana Kocher is currently out and available for download on all digital streaming platforms.
The Full Story
Tiana Kocher teamed up with multi-platinum recording artist and rapper Sage the Gemini for her latest single release, ‘Take Over’, which she wrote with GRAMMY award-winning writer Candace Wakefield, and Sage the Gemini.
Releasing through Manila Music, the ‘Take Over’ music video was directed by Ali Zamani and produced by Zeus Zamani of AZ Films. Set on a Southern California sun drenched backdrop, ‘Take Over’ is a song about love, but through the eyes of both the male and female’s perspective of a couple finding each other and “taking over” the world together.
“Take Over’ was one of the first songs I ever recorded in Los Angeles,” says Kocher. “I recorded and filmed the music video over two years ago during summer 2018, and it was my first song working with a feature. I had an incredible time working with Sage, who ended up being one of my closest confidants in the industry. I consider him my big brother. I was fortunate enough to be able to work really closely with AZ Films to create a visual that matches the energy of the song. We always want to outdo ourselves, so we came up with the idea of filming the music video on a yacht! I had such a great time working with my closest friends on this music video.”
Sage the Gemini has been featured on several award-winning songs including records with Chris Brown and Flo Rida, and has produced a multitude of songs, most recently for Tinashe and Tyga.
Tiana Kocher has collaborated with several GRAMMY award-winning recording artists including TLC, Faith Evans and Latin reggaeton J. Alvarez amongst others, as well as multiple award-winning record producers including Laney Stewart, Leon “RoccStar” Youngblood, Warren Kurtiss and Tyler Reynolds.
‘Take Over’ is available for download on iTunes and all digital streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, SoundCloud, Pandora, DEEZER, iHeartRadio, Google Play, and Xbox Groove.
