Destiny’s Child are planning a new album and tour, according to Mathew Knowles.
Mathew managed the US girl group, comprising of his daughter Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, until their split in 2006. He initially looked after the women’s solo careers too, and he’s now claimed they are considering reuniting.
"I am extremely hopeful that the ladies will come back with an album and a tour. I’m working on a few Destiny’s Child projects right now,’ he told The Huffington Post.
"I still manage the ladies – Destiny’s Child – and I’m hopeful that within the next two to three years we’ll see something major come from it.’
Although they went their separate ways almost a decade ago, the three women have remained good friends. There have been repeated rumours about them teaming up again, which reached fever pitch when Beyoncé played the Super Bowl half-time show in 2013 and brought her former bandmates on stage with her. This followed the release of Destiny’s Child album Love Songs in January 13, which included some of their romance-themed tracks and one new recording called Nuclear.
Mathew’s desire to see the group back in the limelight is well documented. Last year (14) leaked emails showed he’d been talking to Sony about making a biopic of the band’s rise to fame, something he is still keen on. The manager even has an idea of who he’d like to appear in the project, although he’s remaining tight-lipped on that at the moment.
He is happy to talk about his new book though, which is called The DNA of Achievers: 10 Traits of Highly Successful Professionals. Penning it made him realise how important it had been for him to help Beyoncé and her sister Solange achieve their dreams.
‘For parents the first thing has to be the dream and passion of the child. There’s a difference between determination and passion, and sometimes people get that confused,’ he explained.
‘The parents’ role is to give those tools to give their support to whatever that dream is that a child has."
