Falling Leaves release a sound that is epic, melodic, majestic, dark, and deeply moving. Their music blends shiver-inducing melodic doom death metal with a touch of melancholy and power, capturing emotions that feel suited to the state of the planet. Formed in 2009, the band quickly established itself as a distinctive voice within the genre, inspired by pioneers like My Dying Bride and Novembers Doom. From the beginning, their purpose was to create music that reflects despair, existential dread, and the weight of time, weaving heavy atmospheres with melodic intensity.
Their first demo, released the same year they formed, introduced an ethereal yet crushing sound that hinted at what was to come. In 2012, they reached a milestone with their debut full-length album Mournful Cry of a Dying Sun, released under Endless Winter. The record, mixed and mastered by Dennis Israel at Clintworks in Hamburg, Germany, carried the influence of his work with Jens Bogren and bands like Opeth and Amon Amarth. Guest appearances from Paul Kuhr of Novembers Doom, violinist Pete Johansen, and Olof Gothlin of Draconian gave the album a heightened emotional and sonic dimension, elevating it into a landmark release for the band.
After more than a decade, Falling Leaves return with their second full-length album The Silence That Binds Us, released on September 5, 2025. This new chapter was mixed by Alessandro Comerio at Daemon Star Studio in Italy and mastered by Dan Swanö, whose name is legendary in the metal world. The record features lyrics by Murad Juneydi and guest performances from Paul Kuhr and acclaimed session musicians, making it a statement of maturity and resilience. It is a work that balances grief and power, melody and heaviness, and it continues the band’s journey with renewed depth and force.

The current lineup consists of Bashar Haroun on vocals, Ala’a Swalha and Fadi Stanboulieh on guitars, and Ali M on bass. They are joined by guest musicians including Paul Kuhr on vocals, Ariel Perchuk on keyboards, and Fabio Alessandrini on drums. The artwork was created by Travis Smith, adding a visual layer to the haunting soundscapes of the record.
The Silence That Binds Us stands as a testament to the growth of Falling Leaves, carrying forward the torch of melodic doom death metal while carving its own identity.
