Radio 1Xtra’s CJ Beatz discovered Emma Blakk at the London east end new urban underground talent night Knew Knowledge, which he runs with Warner A&R man Ryan Farley.
Emma has performed live in the studio on CJ Beatz’s Radio 1Xtra show CJ’s Souncheck.
She has already appeared on SBTV, Link Up TV, Urban Development and Soul Culture.
Since the age of 12, Emma has performed live and written her own songs, as well as covering artists including Prince and Jason Derulo.
Council Block Dreamer is Emma’s first 7 song EP, which is available on bandcamp for free download as well as featuring on CJ Beatz’s website.
Sirens is Emma’s first official single release, out on 14 March 2014.
Jordan Crisp produced Emma’s EP Council Block Dreamer and the pair established a working relationship likened to Emeli Sandé & Naughty Boy and Ellie Goulding & Starsmith.
Emma returned to her roots in London’s eastend from where she was raised by her mother in Bolton to pursue her musical vision to express day-to-day hardship faced by broken homes on council estates.
With a strong voice and songwriting ability, Emma eschews current trends for tough female emcees to deliver her dub-esque, urban underground vocal and arrangement sound.
