Marie Pascale, the Cameroonian-born, Dominica-based singer, has teamed up with Saint Lucian star Arthur Allain for the release of Complicated, a stirring new single produced by Dominican hitmaker Kreig Harris of Kahz Media Productions.
Blending the smooth sway of Kompa with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Complicated is delivered in three languages — English, French, and Creole. Its heartfelt chorus, “Pa lessé mwen, Pa lessé pen la changé lanmou nou” (“Don’t let the pain change our love”), captures both the honesty of love’s struggles and the joy of danceable rhythms. With Harris’ polished production and Allain’s soulful vocal delivery, the track bridges continents, uniting African and Caribbean influences with a universal message of perseverance in love.
The single is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms.
Marie Pascale: A Voice Rooted in Africa and the Caribbean
Marie Pascale Affana, who performs as Marie Pascale or MP, is recognized for her high, silvery voice that carries both the richness of African heritage and the soul of the Caribbean. Born in Douala, Cameroon, on March 31, 1991, she pursued dual passions from an early age: medicine and music. In 2009, she and her sister Clementine moved to Dominica to study medicine, a journey she often compares to the ancestral voyages that connect Africa and the Caribbean.
Her musical path took off when she joined the acclaimed Sixth Form Sisserou Singers in 2011. From there, she began performing in churches, at cultural events, and later on national and regional stages. Her sound, which she calls “Afro Sound,” is a fusion of Afrobeats, Afropop, Afrodance, Zouk, and Kompa, reflecting both her Cameroonian roots and her Dominican experiences.

Marie Pascale has drawn inspiration from legendary African performers such as the ‘Weekend Special’ legend Brenda Fassie and Angélique Kidjo, channeling their influence into performances that are both fiery and deeply emotive. Her stage presence has carried her to some of Dominica’s most celebrated events, including the Dominica Staging of Broadway’s Once On This Island (2017), the Carnival Opening Ceremony (2018), the Miss Dominica Pageant (2019), and the World Creole Music Festival (2019), where she performed alongside Extasy Band.
